A new spreading sequences generator based on a class of chaotic maps is proposed. The theoretical performances of such sequences are shown to be good using the ergodic theory of chaos. The practical performances are then found by computer simulation. Results show that the balance property, the correlation property and the linear complexity of chaotic spreading sequences are quite good. Therefore chaotic spreading sequences are good candidates for direct-sequence spread-spectrum communications.
