Abstract: The principles, properties of Hilbert transform and wavelet transform and their applications to extracting signal envelope are discussed respectively. Some comparisons are made to illustrate that modulated Gaussian wavelet transform not only can orthogonalize signal, but also has band-pass filtering function, so it is a more ideal method for extracting signal envelope in contrast with Hilbert transform.
