Research on Cluster-based Data Aggregation for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

  • A Cluster-based Data Aggregation Algorithm (CDAA) for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) is proposed. CDAA extends effectively the network life cycle by a new clustering method and a data aggregation scheme based on the clustering method. According to the orientation feature and the residual energy of an individual multimedia sensor node, a new clustering method is proposed. Furthermore, a scheme of data aggregation is applied based on the clustering method. Compared with LEACH, PEGASIS and AntSensNet protocols, simulation results show that CDAA can decrease the number of data transmission in WMSNs, balance energy consumption and prolong the networks lifetime.
