A Reduce-Reference Image Quality Assessment Metrics Based on Wavelet Transform

  • Reduced-reference image quality measure has become to be one of the focuses in image processing fields. In this paper, a reduced-reference image quality assessment method based on wavelet is proposed. Based on the character of the human visual system, it is taken into account the variance of the visual sensitive coefficients to get the measure of distorted image. The proposed approach is characterized by a very low complexity of computation, and compared with traditional method of RR-WISM, is with a higher correlation coefficient by 3%, a lower outlier ratio by 6%, and a less amount of information being transmitted by 50%, the computation time is greatly reduced. The experiment results illustrate that the proposed approach has a good prediction accord with the subjective perception.
